Hi, I’m Ben

I’m an award-winning Producer, Director and Editor specialising in high-end digital storytelling, short-form filmmaking and impact production for broadcasters, NGOs and purpose-driven businesses.

Fuelled by a lifelong love of the natural world, and with a background in Marine Biology and Zoology, I create impactful content to raise awareness about global environmental issues and inspire the action required to address them. This could mean telling stories of wild places and the people working on the frontlines to protect them, or those of businesses working to improve the health of our planet.

Wildlife & Conservation

For the past eight years, I’ve worked at the BBC Natural History Unit, leading digital impact campaigns alongside major landmark series such as Planet Earth III, Frozen Planet II, and The Green Planet. These stories have featured the work of passionate people across our planet, while unpacking  cutting edge science on the climate and environmental crises. My expertise lies in communicating complex messages through carefully crafted storytelling, to increase audience engagement and deliver maximum impact.

As part of the first, and for a long time only, specialist digital team in natural history broadcasting, I tailored stories for distribution across YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok - ranging from fast-paced 60-second reels to in-depth 6-minute features to round-the-clock live broadcasts on Springwatch. The projects I’ve worked on have collectively generated hundreds of millions of views globally, and have been recognised with wins at the BAFTA, Webby, Lovie and Anthem Awards. Commercial & Corporate

Alongside my natural history work, I produce digital films for corporate and commercial clients, including promotional videos, crowdfunding films, and internal communications. I’ve delivered projects for well-known organisations such as Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and Burges Salmon, as well as smaller businesses looking to elevate their brand through compelling visual storytelling - from a growing social enterprise to an ethical and sustainable jewellery designer. You can view a selection of my films in this space here.

Production Services

I am based in Bristol, UK, and set up to work remotely with clients anywhere in the world. With over a decade of experience working across the media industry, I have a strong network of contacts and collaborators across the world - from production teams to camera operators to GFX designers. I have experience leading teams of up to 16 people, working on projects with budgets of up to £2m, and adapting schedules to fit tight turnarounds.

My services can span all elements of production, from development to delivery, and could include the following:  

  • Development, casting and pitching

  • Budgeting and scheduling

  • Scripting and planning interviews for maximum impact

  • Shoot planning and execution (including working with remote crews)

  • Directing on location (including working with high profile talent)

  • Live production and broadcasting across multiple platforms

  • Editing (with Adobe Premiere), edit producing and post production

  • Colour grading, sound design, and GFX design and integration
